Your files
Videos and audio files you upload are processed on our own servers solely to create your transcript, captions or captioned video. Files are deleted permanently when you click “Delete my file now”, when you start over, or at the latest 30 minutes after your last activity. Rendered videos are deleted the same way. We do not look at, share, sell or use your files to train AI models.
The subtitle tools (converter and sync) run entirely in your browser; those files are never uploaded.
Statistics
To understand how HeyCaptions is used and to protect the service from abuse, we log page views together with the IP address, the referring page, the browser user agent, the approximate country and the page language. These logs are kept for at most 90 days and are then reduced to anonymous daily totals. We don’t use cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics.
Service providers
The website is hosted by Netlify. Requests to our processing servers pass through Cloudflare for security and performance. These providers process technical data (such as IP addresses) only to deliver the service.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time which data we hold about you and request its deletion. Because we don’t have accounts, the easiest way to protect your privacy is to delete your file as soon as you’re done.
